Hilary's Birthday

Saturday was Hilary's birthday. I made a pancake-cake. Oh the cleverness of me. I made pancakes, and then I made maple frosting, and then I stacked up the pancakes into a cake, with maple frosting in between the layers.

But then we went to the pirate party! Arrg! Pictures and more to follow. But there was cake there. So we didn't eat the pancake-cake yet. It will be a breakfast cake.

Morel mushrooms are in season here. They are only in season for two weeks a year. I bought some and made chicken with morels. Suprêmes de Volaille Farcies aux Morilles. Like what the people are eating in the painting in Amelie. It was VERY delicious.

A pancake-cake? Seriously? Isn't that Dov's joke? And by Dov, I really mean it was MY joke that he stole from the summer of 2004.

This cake was no joke. It was one serious cake! And I thought of it my damn self, thank you very much! :)

OMG when you come to NJ this summer, you can stand in the 3D lifesize sculpture of the painting from Amelie and pretend like you're eating with them. Well maybe that's thrilling for anyone but me. I like to pretend I'm the girl with the cup. And not the girl who types things like "OMG".
