Dow American Cup 1
Last weekend I raced in the Dow American Cup. The first time I've raced in a year. The level of competition was great, at least as high as nationals. It was perfect for getting me back into racing. Here's how I did:
1500 Heat 2:45.693 4th of 5
1500 D-Final 2:45.554 4th of 6
500 Heat 0:50.210 2nd of 5
500 Quarter 0:50.772 4th of 4
500 C-Final 0:51.551 4th of 4
1000 Heat 1:47.261 4th of 4
1000 E-Final 1:56.830 4th of 4
Overall 19th of 27
I fell in my 1000 final, on the last corner of the last lap of the whole meet. Other than that I didn't fall at all, which I thought was a good achievement in and of itself.
I learned a huge amount, just from watching and copying the fast people. At the next practice session in Madison, Tom noticed immediately that I was skating differently, which I was very proud of.
